When a person can no longer stand for long periods or is recovering from leg or hip surgery, then taking a shower can be hard work. There are a number of aids that can be used to make showering a lot easier and more comfortable, for example, shower chairs and transfer benches. However, a rolling shower chair can be a a very useful tool to help get a disabled person from one room to the bathroom and then into the shower.

My #1 recommended Rolling Shower Chair For The Disabled
Duro-Med Shower Transport Chair –
The Duro-Med Shower Transport Chair is a good quality chair for transporting someone in and out of the shower. It compares well with the other shower wheelchairs I researched and is also the cheapest.
First of all, the Duro-Med Shower chair has a weight capacity of 250 lbs. It is not a great weight limit, however, this weight capacity seems to be quite common with this type of product.
The chair has large wheels and rolls quite well over different surfaces, like carpets and tiles etc. There is also a locking system on the wheels for when the chair is in place, in the shower. The seat is made of vinyl and quite comfortably padded and the backrest is made of waterproof PVC.
The majority of shower chairs have a hole in the center, therefore, the shower chair can double up as a toilet chair. Just roll the chair over the toilet bowl instead of transferring the disabled person from the chair to toilet each time. The hole in the seat also makes washing private areas a lot easier in the shower.
Rolling shower chairs should be strong and sturdy for safety reasons, yet lightweight so the carer can easily push it around.

Best Heavy Duty Rolling Shower Chair With Toilet Seat And Cover
MedMobile® Aluminum Portable Commode Shower Wheelchair With Toilet Style Seat and Cover –
As I said in the previous review, these shower chairs with wheels usually have a a weight limit of 250 lbs. However, I did find a couple of chairs that had a weight capacity of 300 lbs.
The MedMobile portable shower chair is a really nice, sturdy chair that would be great for the heavier individual.
The chair itself is lightweight at 16 lbs, yet sturdy enough to hold 300 lbs. I like the way the top seat is removable to show a hole underneath. There is also a bucket included that is to be placed under the hole to make a handy portable toilet.
Another feature I like is the folding footrest that will make transporting a little bit more comfortable on the legs.
If you are looking for a strong and stable shower chair with wheels, that is suitable for the heavier patient of up to 300 lbs, then the MedMobile Aluminum Commode Shower Wheelchair is a nice option for you.

High Quality Rolling Shower Chair For The Disabled
EZee Life Attendant Shower Transport Chair Bath Toilet Commode Aluminum Adjustable –
The EZee Life Attendant Shower Transport Chair is the most expensive shower chair in this article. It is a top quality chair, so lets see what it offers and how it compares to the cheaper options.
The chair is strong and sturdy, however, only has a 250 lbs weight limit, therefore, nothing special here. The seat also has a cutout section, so it can be used as a commode. This feature is common among shower chairs as most shower wheelchairs either have a hole or a removable cutout section for using the toilet.
However, the EZee Life Chair does have some features that the other two chairs do not have.
Firstly, this chair comes with footplates that can be adjusted to different heights and angles to suit the height of the user. These footplates make transferring for patients with weak legs a lot more comfortable.
Secondly, unlike the other two chairs, the EZee Life Shower Chair has armrests that can be lifted out of the way for easier access and showering.
Another feature I really like are the wheel breaks, for added stability and safety in the shower. Each wheel has a 5″ castor behind it to make sure that the chair will lock in position, preventing sliding on wet and soapy shower room floors.
The frame is also made of rust resistant aluminum, which is a good feature to have for a shower chair.
The EZee Life Attendant Shower Transport Chair is a more expensive than the other two reviews, however, the chair is very well made. If you would like to see more details on this chair, including the price and customer reviews, then click here.
